Buddhist tattoo?

I have the "om mani padme hum" mantra in sanskrit on my wrist and a lotus flower and om on my stomach. I would like another tattoo, preferably on my upper back/side area. I am buddhist and was thinking about maybe getting...

"I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet" - Mahatma Gandhi

"If you understand,

Things are just as they are;

If you do not understand,

Things are just as they are." - Zen Verse

I do not want my tattoo done in english. I would like it in sanskrit. Where can I find these quotes PROPERLY translated into sanksrit? I was thinking about having the quote snake up from my hip upwards. I already have a tattoo on my lower back so that area is taken up.

How do you think that would look? I am also considering a lotus design up my side if I can't find translations for those quotes.

Any help would be appreciated. And please don't say anything negative, if you want to be negative then don't bother answering my question! :)

Buddhist tattoo?
i think that, just for the sake of symmetry, you could do aquote snakeing up either side and a sketchy lotus in the middle of your back. it might be too many for you tho, personal choice. i love the quotes and the concept designs. i was thinking about getting a quote by the dalai llama, but im not buddhist and i wouldnt want to insult anyone. good luck with whatever you do
Reply:Why would you, who knows this bag of skin is temporary spend time and money getting it decorated for corporal and ego satisfaction?

Not a very buddhist concept.

Sort of like braiile at the drive-thru window at the bank.
Reply:I am not sure where to get the proper translation, but I love this idea for a tattoo. I hope that it works out.
Reply:Here is the Tibetan script for 'om mani padme hum' I am plannin to get this tattooed on my inner forearm, minus the corner designs and it'll be in black.

Reply:And what is Buddha's take on tatoos? Most religious text frowns on them so it would be quite hypocritical having a zen verse printed on your ***.
Reply:Bottom line Father God said thou shalt not put graving images on thy body, that means no tatto's, and thou shalt not worship any engraved images, what this all means is God has his mark on you and you have the light of the Good Lord in you, you don't need anything to make you beautiful for you already are.
Reply:try this.. ?
Reply:I bet that will look really pretty! I'm not sure where to find proper translations, but snaking up your hip would look gorgeous!

PS

Also having at lotus flower going up your side may seem like a good idea at the time, but think ahead, do you really want THAT many tattoos later on?
Reply:I found a website that claims to have trustable Sanskrit translation....
